Hot days are welcome if we want to go to the swimming pool, but they are a pain when we have to spend time working or studying. Excessively high temperatures are physically uncomfortable, impairing our ability to concentrate and overall productivity. How to fight them and perform as well as ever?

Schedule your time

If you don’t have fixed working hours and you can choose the time for work or study more or less according to yourself, then give preference to early morning or, conversely, evening. After all, the temperatures are a bit more pleasant during these parts of the day. Get up and get down to business before the sun gets really hot. If you are more of an owl and don’t mind working late into the night, try this option.

Eat and drink mindfully

The basis is, of course, to follow the drinking regime. Drink as much water as possible and try to avoid coffee and alcohol. Heavy meals are not the right choice in hot weather. Opt for lighter dishes and smaller portions. Vegetable salad, pasta or fresh fruit will be ideal.

Refresh yourself during the break

Don’t forget to take regular breaks while working. If you have trouble concentrating, they can help you on their own. Set a time to work, set a timer, and avoid any distractions from social media and other distractions during this time. Take a break after a given section. During it, you can rinse your face with cold water or – if you have the opportunity – take a nice cool shower.

Let the air flow

Ventilation on hot days is usually of no importance. If you don’t have air conditioning, at least get a table fan. You can buy it for a few crowns and at the same time it can significantly relieve you from the heat. Also, try closing the blinds during the day to prevent unpleasant sunlight from penetrating directly into the room.

Enjoy your free time

Last but not least, let’s remember that studies and work are not everything and you need to recharge your batteries every now and then. However, avoid excessive physical exertion in the heat. The ideal activity in such weather is swimming, so go to the aforementioned swimming pool or to the pond. Get the energy to get back to work the next day.
