The second block of study is specialized block and consists of three educational modules, which the student completes within his specialization. The modules of the specialization take place within one course day. Students choose an exact date from a wide range directly in the student section.

Commercial Banking

Syllabus 

The module provides practical information in the field of commercial banking. Attention is focused mainly on concluding credit and deposit transactions, payment intermediation, overall credit policy of banks – individual types of loans and methods of their security, credit analysis, savings and investments, accepting deposits and other classic products of commercial banking. The lecturers will explain the primary method of commercial banks financing – the so-called primary deposits. The methods of making a profit (interest margins, fees from payment operations, etc.) and possible (credit and interest) risks arising from the activities of commercial banks will be discussed.

Investment Banking and Capital Markets

Syllabus

Investment banking, like many other industries, is undergoing rapid development. It is affected by global trends and is therefore forced to respond effectively and in a timely manner to changing economic conditions and needs. It is one of the most attractive profitable industries and operates a large part of its banking resources during its operations. The module is focused on expanding students’ knowledge in the field of investment banking, the issues from international issuance trades to retail trades will be explained. Both, the regulation of issue brokerage trades and dealer trades on secondary markets will be mentioned. The module also focuses on various activities in the capital markets, ie corporate finance, issuance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, commercial banking, wholesale securities transactions for institutional investors.

Banking Products and Operations

Syllabus

Banking and financial institutions offer the public a wide range of products and services. The competition forces them to constantly expand and modernize their products. The aim of the module is to bring important information in this area, to present the current offer on the Czech market and to think about possible development and innovation of products such as establishing and maintaining a current account, savings account, arranging mortgages, loans, cash and non-cash operations in domestic and international relations, for issuing and managing means of payment, such as payment cards and travelers’ checks, and other ancillary services provided by banks. The module will also focus on non-deposit institutions – the latest products of insurance companies, investment funds and securities trading.
