The second block of study is specialized block and consists of three educational modules which the student completes within his/her specialization. The specialization is taught in one course day. Students choose a specific date from a wide range of dates directly in the student section.

Environmental Policy and Ethics

Syllabus

Environmental policy aims to guide the behavior of society in line with sustainable development and to preserve the quality and conditions of life. Its guiding principles include prevention, precaution, integration and a high level of environmental protection. As environmental policy is shaped and classified by many different perspectives, it can be classified according to its level as international, regional, national or local. Environmental ethics represents the relationship of the individual to the environment and in contemporary environmental ethics it is possible to distinguish 4 basic positions: anthropocentric, theocentric, biocentric and ecocentric.

Environmental Economics

Syllabus

Environmental economics defines its goals as the search for a path to a balanced state of the economy and a fair distribution of resources, not only for the present but also for future generations. The main areas of concern in this topic include the impact of environmental protection and status on major economic issues such as economic growth, resource availability, etc., as well as the impact of major economic activities on the environment. There is a debate between different streams of ecological economics on so-called strong and weak sustainability. The main dispute revolves around the belief that man-made capital is interchangeable with natural resources.

Environmental Legislation and ISO Standards

Syllabus

The implementation of environmental systems and their management in a company is a necessary obligation in companies, so it is important to have a comprehensive overview of the relevant legislation and to ensure compliance with it. This module will focus on legislative requirements in the areas of waste management, water, hazardous substances and air protection. There will also be a detailed overview of REACH and CLP regulations, integrated prevention, ISPOP and their application in practical examples.
