Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)



The first block of the DBA is basic block and is the same for all students. It contains 5 modules that focus on the practical deepening of knowledge in the areas mentioned below. Seminars are always held on the weekend (Saturday) and are divided into 2 course days.

Management vs. Leadership

Syllabus

An effective manager is able to create a positive atmosphere in the workplace and at the same time authoritatively ensures that all tasks and rules are carried out. The aforementioned combination of managerial competences and their balance will be discussed by the lecturers during this training module. They will share their know-how on how to positively influence other people’s behavior, how to set a personal example, how to learn to accept others’ ideas, how to provide constructive help, advice and guidance, how to use the potential and skills of their employees appropriately. Specific examples from practice will be used to clarify how to praise as well as criticize in an appropriate way. The lecturers will also advise on how to listen actively, ask questions, argue, deal with objections and disagreements – how to successfully overcome complicated communication and conflicts in the workplace, how to master the art of persuading and enthusing your co-workers and other important skills for practice.

Resource Management

Syllabus

The process of using and managing company resources is one of the key managerial tasks. These resources may include, for example, products and equipment, finances, production materials, employees, equipment, ideas for optimizing and expanding the company, etc. The aim of the module is to learn the essence of effective planning and management of company resources, because careful and structured management promotes success. Conversely, mismanagement of resources can lead to project failure, budget overruns or other unfortunate events. Within the module, students will also deal with the issue of work planning for employees, time management and time will be devoted to how to use the potential of long-term employees for new projects in a company or department. Upon completion of the module, students will be able to manage company resources more effectively.

Lean Management

Syllabus

Experienced experts will introduce students to the secrets of this minimalist and efficient management method. Their presentation will focus on how to meet customer needs while keeping costs as low as possible. Students will broaden their understanding of how to minimize or completely eliminate all kinds of waste from human to material resources, how to reduce operating costs, how to work as quickly as possible and use the potential and creativity of workers, how to avoid unintentional mistakes during the production process, how to create the most appropriate, efficiently grouped work environment that will save time. Students will be introduced to specific LEAN management methods such as the 5 Why’s, 5 S, SMED, Andon, Poka-Joke and many others.

Human Resource Management

Syllabus

Human resources are a key factor in the success of a company. Well-chosen employees are a company’s greatest asset. This training module will focus on recruiting employees, shaping them, using their potential, and effectively linking the activities of one employee with other employees. Students will learn to plan staffing, manage individual and team performance through set goals, create reward strategies, identify staff training needs, engage employees in decision-making processes, build staff satisfaction, and effectively motivate subordinates. Occupational safety and health, the creation of suitable pleasant working conditions or the creation of HR personnel information systems will not be neglected.

Personal Development Management

Syllabus

The main way to permanently succeed not only in the field of business is continuous and never-ending self-improvement and also good psychological condition and personal satisfaction. It is very important for managers to be able to apply their abilities, to know themselves – to be able to control their emotions in contact with the environment, but also to be able to relax and gain enough energy to cope with difficult situations. The training module is very practical, the lecturer gives students experience in many areas. Emphasis is placed on coping with unexpected situations and stress arising from interpersonal relationships, on how to overcome moments of failure in career and personal life. In addition, students will be reminded of the rules of self-management with an emphasis on timely achievement of set goals, they will learn to promote creative thinking. The lecturer will also mention effective time management, how to achieve patience and perseverance in completing tasks, how to set priorities. The important topic of burnout syndrome and its prevention will not be lacking.
